Saunderson Pressure Reducing Station Project Awarded to H Wilson Industries

H Wilson Industries, a part of the Volker Stevin Canada family of companies, is pleased to announce it was awarded the $44 million Saunderson Pressure Reducing Station project for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.

H Wilson Industries will serve as the prime contractor for the Saunderson Pressure Reducing Station project. The team will oversee the following to ensure the project’s success:

  • Deep utility rehabilitations and upgrades to replace current infrastructure running throughout the Central Business District downtown;
  • Installation of a new 36-inch diameter water main from Downtown to Abasand using horizontal directional drilling to minimize the impact on traffic;
  • Construction of two new pressure reducing valve facilities to improve water flow to the areas south of the Urban Service area; and
  • Construction of a new skate park.

“We are very excited to take on this project for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. It is the largest project awarded in our company’s history, and I know our team shares my passion for the project,” said Wes Holodniuk, General Manager at H Wilson Industries. “The Saunderson Pressure Reducing Station project is a great opportunity for us to improve our community infrastructure and benefit local contractors and our community.”

The Saunderson Pressure Reducing Station project is expected to reach substantial completion by July 2025. Once it is complete, the new pressure reducing station will improve water flow to the Downtown core and provide a stable water supply for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
