Volker Stevin enhances operator training with advanced equipment simulator

At Volker Stevin, safety is at the core of everything we do. We invest in our people through continuous training and career development, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to work safely and grow in their careers.

This commitment is why Volker Stevin is proud to introduce a new equipment simulator in the training department at our Calgary head office. This cutting-edge technology is the first of its kind in Western Canada, and will prepare our operators for real-world construction situations in a safe, controlled environment.

Trainees can practice operating backhoes, dozers, wheel loaders, graders, excavators, and more, replicating a variety of real-life scenarios such as standard distractions, harsh weather conditions, hazardous environments, and emergency situations.

Evan Friesen, Supervisor of Underground Field Operations shares, “We are proud to invest in the latest advancements in training technology and remain committed to positioning ourselves at the forefront of innovation, helping to lead our industry forward.”

The new simulator enhances training efficiency and helps ensure operators are properly matched to equipment to meet demanding project schedules. It also reduces risk on active job sites, while decreasing equipment wear and fuel consumption.

Early feedback from participants has shown significant improvements in efficiency and accelerated learning outcomes.
