Reporting to the Foreman, the Pipelayer is responsible for preparing and installing pipe to support construction projects. This role involves laying pipe to grade, aligning and joining pipe sections, and ensuring proper backfilling. The Pipelayer works closely with construction teams to ensure that pipes are installed safely, accurately, and in compliance with project specifications and safety standards.

How You’ll Add Value

  • Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment
  • Assist other workers with general labour activities during trenching and laying of pipe
  • Work independently completing tasks as pertaining to the process of laying pipe inline and grade
  • Ensure pipe is properly bedded in granular or native material before backfilling occurs
  • Shovel test holes, mark locations, and safely expose live utilities
  • Work with a variety of tools used in underground utility and heavy equipment
  • Ensure proper rigging and hoisting techniques for pipe, concrete structures, and other materials, and enforce safe work procedures during the lowering of materials into the excavation

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3+ years of pipelaying experience in the heavy civil construction
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a Driver’s Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions
  • Physically able to safely lift and carry 40 lbs regularly
  • Willing to travel and work out of town for short, fixed-term periods, as needed
