Reporting to the Foreman and their Pipelayers, the Pipelayer Helper is responsible for providing physical labor support to the pipelayer during all phases of construction and helping to achieve productions safely.
- Load, unload, and move construction materials around the worksite.
- Manually remove large rocks and debris turned up by heavy equipment, ensuring all revealed rocks and debris are clear.
- Flagging traffic when necessary.
- Understand, interpret, and follow directions from supervisors as to the required work area.
- Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
- Using a rake or shovel, spread gravel and other construction materials for padding, setting structures, or other utilities and piping.
- Shovel around live utilities to expose them without damaging them.
- Operate equipment, such as pneumatic hammers, vibrators, tampers, and packers, as required.
- Ensure the worksite is organized and free of clutter, rubble, and garbage.
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:
Qualifications & Experience
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
- Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract (as per Company policy), is preferred.
- Physically fit and ability to repetitively lift and carry at least 40 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Preferred minimum 1–3 years of experience within the underground utility construction industry.
