Position Rationale:
Reporting to Superintendent, a Low Bed Operator is responsible for safe loading and unloading of heavy equipment. Must be familiar with the operation of jeep, boosters, weight and permits required for hauling heavy equipment.
Position Accountabilities:
- Operate a low bed and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of trucks and trailers.
- Understand and follow directions from supervisors as to required work area.
- Load and unload all types of heavy equipment independently and safely secure loads.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance checks on truck and trailer.
- Operate other heavy equipment; other construction related duties as required.
Technical Knowledge:
- Possess knowledge of low bed and other heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment for loading and unloading requirements.
Working Environment/Conditions:
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat, and humidity.
- Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis.
- Possible out of town and weekend work on an as required basis.
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:
Qualifications & Experience
- High school or equivalent; with experience in related construction activities.
- Minimum 2 – 5 years’ experience loading and hauling heavy equipment.
- Valid Class 1 Operator’s License; clean Driver Abstract.
- Knowledge of weight restrictions, road bans and permit requirements.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
