Position Rationale:
Reporting to a Foreman, an Asphalt Plant Laborer is responsible for ensuring the plant is kept clean, greased, and in good working order. performing maintenance on plant equipment, including conveyors, electric motors, gear boxes, feeder bins, drum mixers, and other related plant equipment. The Asphalt Plant Laborer will need the ability to work in a team environment, perform physical labor, learn to operate heavy equipment (skid steer and loader experience preferred), and work long hours during the asphalt season.
Working Environment/Conditions:
- Overtime hours might be required.
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
- Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 40 LBS on a regular basis.
- Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear.
- Valid Class 5 Operator’s License; with a clean Driver Abstract.
- Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements.
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:
Qualifications & Experience
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. is preferred.
- 1 to 2 years as an Asphalt Plant Laborer is preferred.
- Must have own/ reliable transportation.
- Class 5 with the ability to drive, standard Operator’s license is preferred.
- Understanding of computerized controls and electronics is preferred.
- Knowledge of Loader and Skid Steer operation preferred.
- Confined Space, Fall Protection and H2S Alive training preferred.
