Reporting to the Foreman, the Pipelayer is responsible for preparing and installing pipes to support construction projects. This role involves laying pipe to grade, aligning and joining pipe sections, and ensuring proper backfilling and compaction. The Pipelayer works closely with construction teams to ensure pipes are installed safely, accurately, and in compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
How You’ll Add Value
- Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment
- Support the team to ensuring the pipe is installed to the proper grade
- Assist other workers with general labour activities during trenching and laying of pipe
- Work independently completing tasks laying pipe on-line and grade
- Ensure pipe is properly bedded in granular or native material before backfilling occurs
- Work with a variety of tools used in underground utility and heavy equipment
- Ensure proper rigging techniques for pipe, manhole barrels, and other materials, and enforce safe work procedures during the lowering of materials into the excavation
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:
Qualifications & Experience
- 3+ years of pipelaying experience in the heavy civil construction
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a Driver’s Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions
- Willing to travel and work out of town for short, fixed-term periods, as needed
