Volker Stevin will continue to conduct its business in an environmentally sustainable manner by applying its transparent and informative decision making approach to maintain consistent implementation of municipal, provincial, and federal environmental policies and practices.
General policies and programs, which affect the Company as a whole, will be established and relayed through Divisional Managers and the Manager, Corporate Services for implementation.
Each Divisional Manager shall be required to ensure their Division adopts accident prevention procedures and controls appropriate to the requirements and operations of their department. These procedures shall be at least equal to or greater than Government Occupational Health and Safety Acts and Regulations.
Supervisors shall be responsible to the Divisional Manager for adherence to safe work procedures and practices on each job site, and will be considered the designated safety person on the job site.
Foremen shall be responsible to the Job Supervisor and are responsible for the day to day safe work practices of their crew.
All employees are required to know and observe safety rules and procedures and to make effective use of their time, equipment, and efforts in the performance of their work. No employee shall compromise the safety of themselves or fellow workers, nor carry out any work if on reasonable and probable grounds they believe imminent danger exists.
Sharing the responsibilities in this way will ensure a successful incident prevention program.
Maintain up to date knowledge of municipal, provincial, and federal environmental policies and practices and ensure these are considered in the Company’s on-going projects and decision making.
Allow for regular engagement and collaboration with regulatory agencies to maintain an up to date Environmental Management Guide.
Enable team members of Volker Stevin to learn and understand the importance of being environmentally sustainable in day to day business activities.
Develop, implement, and maintain regular educational sessions with Volker Stevin team members to ensure they understand and comply with regulations.
Encourage proactive decision making to mitigate environmental impacts.
Implement, manage, and apply lessons learned to continually improve the Volker Stevin environmental management system for operational effectiveness and excellence.
Develop environmentally sustainable performance indicators and manage them on a regular basis to ensure the Company’s goal is achieved.
Continue to seek methods for improving environmental performance.
