Volker Stevin is very proud to announce that we have been awarded the Deep Utilities Contract for the Calgary International Airport Runway Development Program. This is the largest ever single contract for underground utility installation in Calgary’s history.
Volker Stevin is pleased to announce that, as of June 1st, it has purchased McNally Contractors Ltd. of Lethbridge and welcomes them to the Volker Stevin and Volker Wessels families.

McNally is a civil construction company whose primary business includes Roadworks, Aggregates & Crushing, Deep Utility Installation, Asphalt Manufacturing & Concrete Curbs & Sidewalks. The synergies of this operation & our recent 10 year Highway Maintenance Contract extension in Lethbridge has allowed Volker Stevin to expand its operations in Southern Alberta, with this acquisition, to a similar capability as that of our Calgary operations & H. Wilson Industries in Ft. McMurray.

McNally is a well managed, safety oriented, reputable contractor with 34 years of non-union operations in Southern Alberta which offers significant local knowledge. They have 100 employees, operate 2 asphalt plants as well as several aggregate pits in the Lethbridge region, and have secured or own, long term aggregate sources for the manufacture of asphalt.
Volker Stevin was recently awarded East Village Phase 8, Infrastructure Improvements which will be a continuation of the first 7 Phases that Volker has constructed over the past few years.

VSC is the Prime Contractor / Project Mgr / Construction Plan Designer for the total redevelopment of 7 phases of downtown residential area sequenced & coordinated with City of Calgary Traffic Planning, Owners & Consultants as well as Utility Owners to minimize disruption to commuter traffic & local residents & to showcase the development & expedite the repopulation of this area.

As Prime Contractor and Project Manager, VS oversees all utilities, earthworks, roadworks, concrete work, asphalt & concrete sawcutting, pressure grouting of existing storm, water & sanitary lines, asphalt paving, pathway construction & paving, retaining walls, landscaping, street lighting & coordination all subcontractors.

VSC has provided the Owner with a top quality product under tight time constraints through detailed planning, effective communication with all parties involved, precise coordination of numerous subcontractors, attention to building relationships & fostering a “team” approach.
Earlier this year Volker Stevin successfully rebid the 10 Year Highway Maintenance Contracts for the 4 CMAs in Southern Alberta which it has serviced since 2001, extending services to 2021. VS was also awarded a 3 year extension to the 3 CMAs in the Calgary area it has maintained since 1996, extending those contracts to 2014.
The new head office building is being renovated & the new Aldersyde shop is under construction - we anticipate moving in November. Check out the artist’s renderings & stay tuned for updates.
